My efforts to play and digitalise Francis Brenton’s reel to reel recordings had fallen flat as one of the tapes broke. So I have enlisted the help of a professional tape to digital specialist from a town in Sweden near where I live. Let’s see how this goes. Here is a picture of Hans at his store in Eskilstuna – “Picture and Sound Copy” or “Bild och Ljudkopia” in Swedish.
Soon I will have the results of a tape from Francis’ jouneying in Panama in the 1960s ready to upload here, if Hans can do his magic. Also, I have given a cassette recording from a more recent interview with Chicago Canoe Centre leader, Ralph Freese (Ralph knew Francis well) to Hans to digitalise too. Watch this space:)
